Its good to finally meet you
Hi There!
My name is Gen and I am the heartbeat of Studio DoubleTake. There is nothing more purposeful than creating the sense of awe and wonder in another person and I have worked hard to gain the skills that can make that happen. My proudest moments all revolve around the sparkle in someone’s eyes when they get to experience a little bit of magic.
I truly believe there is nothing I cannot learn or understand – I even taught myself to create this website from scratch! This ethos has made me an incredibly hands on person and, as such, I have hoarded skills like a dragon over the years making me me incredibly versatile. There’s no project too big or too small, as long as someone needs to tell it. I am here to tell stories that mean something.
That is what living is all about.
Qualifications
- GRADUATED BACHELOR OF CREATIVE ARTS (Costume Design) from Flinders University with Chancellors Letter of Commendation
- 15 Years of Costume making experience with award winning costumes (Fabric of Life Festival - FProject)
- Working With Children Check + Current Police Clearance
- Model Dressing + Runway assistance for TAFE SA Fashion Parade
- Photographers assistant + second shot for Fringe SA, Grande Design Productions, Creative Centre Photography Adelaide and AVCon
My degree outlined the fundementals but I have learned so much from working the field – Life experiences have been priceless and there are so many more stories to tell!
Also, I get asked about my name every now and again – It’s just Gen and I adopted it around 5 years ago after recovering from an illness. My friends had been the reason for my recovery even though they aren’t close by and so the name stuck! This way I keep them with me wherever I go. <3
Extraordinary Experiences
I have had the pleasure of having my work displayed for multiple years through SALA (South Australian Living Artists) and have featured in The Advertiser. I prominently work with local photographers and artists in most of my work which has helped celebrate the importance of community arts.
My work has placed me in management through AVCon 2023 and allowed me to create a fun, safe and compelling competitive scene in the Cosplay Community. This position also let me run venue events, create deals with sponsorships and celebrity guests as well as run a full stage show with over 60 performers!
Aside from making I am a lover of all things adventure and have trekked a good chunk of Australia now with Tasmania being a highlight. I have a passion for thrifting and motorcycling and I’ve been a foster career for the AWL for over a year now and am passionate about giving back to the community where I can.
